Rooting Neo L


 

Note:

1.Follow the instructions carefully if you don't then I am responsible for your bricked devices.

2. Always make backup of your contact, data on sdcard etc.

  Make sure you have installed adb drivers or install sony pc companion it installs adb drivers for your device automatically.

Steps:

1. In your phone goto setting->developer setting-> turn on usb debugging.

2. Then again goto setting->xperia->connectivity->usb connection mode-> make it msc mode.

3. Again goto setting->security->check unknown sources.

4. Now turn off your device.

5. Now flash your Neo L with Neo v Kernel file (MT11i_4.1.A.0.562_kernel.ftf)(WHILE FLASHING DONT SELECT ANY DEVICE FROM THE MENU OF FLASH TOOL AS NEO L IS NOT LISTED IN THE FLASH TOOL MENU.)(download link in the first post).

downloaded in the above post.(if you dont know how to flash refer to next post for flashing guide).

You'll only get vibration but screen does'nt turns on.
But still usb debugging'll be working.(if your phone doesnt turn on here, remove usb and turn on and then reconnect usb, no need to panic).

7. Now use downloaded DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011-ICS-ROOT-emu-busybox-su and simply run runme.bat.(if you get an error like adb driver out of date than install adb.exe from

DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011-ICS-ROOT-emu-busybox-su\files\adb.exe

)

8. Now your device will be rooted.

9. Remove and reinsert your battery.

10. Finally flash Neo L MT25i_4.1.B.0.626_KERNEL.ftf (download link in the first post) downloaded by you.

11. Now your device is rooted , turn it on.

    Sorry for the questions, but when i run the runme.bat, it did not go straight to the installing root stuff, it took much longer than you. It kept saying adb driver out of date killing... Like installing superuser su... adb driver out of date killing.. I have already installed pc companion and i follow all the steps.

    Also after i flashed back the neo l kernel i rebooted and it first said android is upgrading then when i opened root check, it said i have no root access. Thanks for the help

    pl check these points if you are facing problem.
    For cheking adb drivers installation.
    1.After installing pc companion for first time connect your phone(in MTP mode) and check for any latest updates of PC COMPANION.
    2.After connecting phone goto-my computer properties-device manager-sony sa0102-sony sa0102 adb driver interface-check for updates.
    before rooting check these points:
    3.You need to make sure are connecting in MSC mode NOT MTP mode, most people forget this , i myself forgot it when i did for first time.
    4.wait for daemon to start, it says
    adb server is out of date. killing...
    * daemon started successfully *
    5-10 times.this doesnt mean it has failed, it might take some time to start
    . if it fails than this message is shown
    adb server is out of date. killing...
    * daemon started successfully *
    ** daemon still not runningerror: cannot connect to daemon

    if still you are facing problem then tell the steps you are

      Please can you tell me how to set the phone to MSC mode as now when i am trying to flash it the flash tool asking me to check that the selected mode is not MTP. I can't open my mobile anymore please help.

      Had the same problem. What I did was open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete). Go to Processes and kill adb.exe. Worked for me. Hope it does for you too. Let us know if it did.

    y cant we directly use MT25i kernel to flash for the first time...
    is necessary to use MT11i kernel...??

      it is necessary because DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011-ICS-ROOT-emu-busybox-su was developed for MT11i kernel, it will not work on MT25i kernel.

      If you are installing any updates then it will become unrooted again!
      If you want to unroot, do it with sony update service (sus), download it from sony website.

      BUT the problem is when i using cmd to root,it appear adb server is out of time. killing....
      after this finish and my phone reboot,it does not rooted...

      is your bootloader unlocked or locked? if its locked then u will be able to update
      it else you wont be(via sus only). wait for some time new kernel will be available shortly.

      he has uploaded three files:
      1.1st one is full rom.
      2.baseband files(files responsible for radio communication like 2g,3g, wifi, bluetooth etc).
      3.kernel files(these are core system files.)

      if want update you need to flash baseband and kernel only.use flashtool to do it, i have not updated my neo l yet, i will do it when i will get time.

    there are somethings which are certain to happen like if you install pc companion and connect your phone and if it is detected by your pc companion , it can only detect your phone model no by using adb drivers, if thats not happening than there can be problem with your system, not with pc companion.
    or you can yourself google for adb drivers,i may not be able to help you with this.

    no you cannot update via update center but you can update by flashing updated kernel via flashtool, this updated kernel you can easily find on xda forum.

    hey yogi, sorry to bother you again. so i've succeed unrooting my phone by updating it to 4.1.B.0.631. and i tried to re-root with your tutor. but when I run the bat.me file, it said my adb driver is out of date. but i keep doing the rest steps and my phone wasn't rooted. i've googled the issue but got no solution. can you give me a way out please? if you happen to know the answer. thank you so much

      you can do one more thing go to the drive in which flash tool is installed for eg in c drive c:\flashtool\drivers, in this folder you will find flashtool drivers install by double clicking it, select flashtool and fastboot drivers from the wizard. try it else tell me if it works.

      btw, have you tried the cybershot mod for xperia?

      I tried to install it but the when I open it, it said that cybershot has stopped. maybe you'd give it a try? but since the original camera stopped as well, I'd had to re install the firmware and re root again :)

      I had a look, see on the first it is written that it wont work on Neo L stock rom, you can install custom rom with which it is compitable.

    I was rooting my neo L as the instructions given above,
    after i flashed my phone with MT11i_4.1.A.0.562_kernel I went on to run doom lord after i installed the adb drivers but in the runme.bat it kept saying waiting for device for half an hour or so, o then i closed it and tried running runme.bat again but the same thing followed, now there is a red light blinking continually---Is my Phone Briked??????

      no your phone is not bricked, it just you are on neo v kernel, install drivers again and try again, you will take some time while you run runme.bat , it takes time you can see it in my video also, it might take more in your case.

    Hi, I followed the all the step but failed in root part, it always complains "Device not found". Have you seen this error before? Also, after first time flash and reboot the phone, I couldn't see portable device from device manager, is it right? Thank you very much! I am using Win7 64 bit pc.

    How do I tell if my phone is bricked...

    Ive done rooting my neo l, and remove the battery for more than ten seconds
    After that, Ive plug the usb and the weird happen, the sony software detects my phone and instead of green light, I got a blinking orange light. Did I did something wrong
    My phone sill on neo v flash and I cant get it onto flash to neo l because of the orange light or i think its rebooted...

    I Am using Sony Xperia Neo L,

    I enabled root access in that to install adaware, link2SD apps and other font, after this System updates are not installing and mobile became too slow, like it takes 20 -30 sec to open contacts or call logs more than a minute to open gallery with 100+ images, i uninstalled many apps and freed internal memory but no use, is this is because i enabled root? and how can i disable it again.

    can anybody help me this regard please....

    i m failing to flash my device the first time..can u elaborate the flashing process...n have v got to directly plug in n flash or r there somethngs to do with the flashtool before it...becuz..my flash tool says : - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.

    hey..i successfully rootd my phne..but i am unable 2 recover any of my contacts..or either save any..i had backed all my contacts before rooting..the phne reads all the contacts but still showa that there are no contacts..
    so i tried unrooting my phne..as u said above that just updating the official firmware we can easily unroot ..but the update wld just nt install...why is this happening..is there any way out?? plz help me..

      After rooting, YOU have disable USB debugging and Connectivity - MSC mode to MTP mode. Then phone will be able import the backed up contacts

    But when i tried "Runme.bat"
    Its showing error:*
    "Device can not find the path specified"
    I already checked these points.
    1-USB DEBBUGING
    2-MSC MODE
    3-UNKNOWN SOURCE CHECKED

    I tried so many times but showing same error.which i mentioned.above.

    So, I did as you said, and when I tried to run Doom Lord, the command prompt says I have failed. Now, my phone won't turn on, there is a constant flashing of red, I cant even flash the original rom nor open up recovery mode. Any help would be nice.

      Flash your neo l firm ware back using flashtool, you will recover your phone , find it on xda developers forum.

      Actually, I found out a few things I DIDNT do that solved it. First, you CANNOT activate directly from the download (haha), but have to EXTRACT IT TO DESKTOP first, then use it (stupid me.) Also, I think you have to have it unlocked (the bootloader) before running this.

      Same person as above two comments.. I've done all the right steps, but my phone still isn't rooted! WHen flashing kernel mt11 do I disconnect and then reconnect for Doom Lord? Should I hold the back button before plugging in for Doom Lord?

    Hi Yogi,

    This is mandeep here..i am also trying to rrot my xperia neo l but i am facing ABD drivers issue again and again. This is now 10hours since i am trying to get any solution. i also installed Flast Tool drivers but this helps. Below is the error i am facing.

    01/051/2013 00:51:32 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
    01/051/2013 00:51:32 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
    01/051/2013 00:51:32 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.

    i have 0.9.9.0 version of the flash tool and latest flast tool drivers.

    Hi, I have a problem here, after flashing the first kernel, I follow the steps until the moment to use the Doomlord's tool, I run adb.exe, then runme.bat, it is going along, but there is an error : device cannot be found, it's still going until it says to reconnect USB if stuck, I did that because it has been about 3-5 minutes, I tried again and the result is the same, please help !

    while using runme.bat, i am stucked at in cmd window...just before the line "DEVICE FOUND" and "emulator hack"...it was taking too long...so as it said i followed the steps and reconnected the usb after removing it...but nothing happened since then...now its not rebooting...and screen is also not turning ON...bt as soon as i connect the it to usb, the led starts blinking orange...what to do?..PLZ HELP..!!
    did i brick my phone?

    I installed DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011-ICS-ROOT-emu-busybox-su. And then run runme.bat. But it keeps on showing me the message ''adb server is out of date.'' I also installed adb.exe form ''files'' folder. But still it keeps on showing me the same error. And my device doesnt get rooted properly. Even installing PC Companion didnt help.
    Please help me with this issue ASAP.

    yogi pal plz help my xperia neo l purchased on 2012 November. so now all sound out put of my phone not working(including ear piece, headset and loud speaker). so I decided to root my phone will it be work or not? also I can not download flashtool from your website
